Creative Time Management

What is Creative Time Management?  Let's see if I can give it simple definition.  It is a way to be creative and manage your time all in one.  How can you do this?  You do so by doing your time management planning in a ... dun dunn dunn ... paper (yes!  I said paper!) planner and then decorate (yes!  I said decorate!) it to make it look appealing to the user.  How?  Let me show you a few examples by yours truly ...

As you can see, I have a paper planner that shows one week at a time and in it I plan out all the activities that must take place for that week but the fun comes in when instead of just making a boring looking list of things to-do and appointments, I decorate it.  Expressing my mood, my likes, my creativity!  It allows me to use stickers to designate washing clothes (my nemesis!) and the use of stamps for other weekly tasks.  It allows me to come back to that week and add pictures of the fun I had.  It allows me to use colored pens and my most creative handwriting.  It allows me to embellish empty spaces to make it appealing to me and it calls to me to open my planner.  Why?  Because I am proud of it and I like what I see.  And that in itself is the magic ... wanting to open my planner.  Because whether it is electronic or paper a list of appointments or things to-do are of NO USE if the user does not go to it and look at it to get it done.  So my solution and the solution of so many planner girls like me is ... "Creative" Time Management.

And I am not alone in my planner madness.  We are a complete community of planners out there that have gone back to old school paper and pen (and stickers, and stamps, and washi tape ......).  Why?  Because we need a creative outlet.  Because we have a lot going on and have lost our motivation.  Because we just did not connect mentally with an electronic device.  Because we love office supplies.  Because we just like to sit down and WRITE!

Creative Time Management is a journey into your creativity and learning the process of time management.  I hope you join me.

Talk to you soon!  One of my goals for 2016 is to be more consistent with my blogging ......

Hugs and happy planning

My life as a Planner DWEEB

Since my last blog post one week ago, I have been a busy Planner DWEEB and needless to say, I have been having a blast.  Let's do a little throwback to the DWEEB events of this past week.

My creative planning juices have been gushing out of my head at full stream!!  I have made stickers, used obsessive amounts of washi, stamps, inks and craft papers.  My craft table (my kids used to call it the dining room table) has been a beautiful chaos of planner supplies. It has been total creative planning bliss.

I even shared a looksie of my past traveler's notebook weekly layouts in my insert on my Instagram account.  It was great to look back and see how I have developed as a creative planner.

(Not high techie techie at all so forgive my ignorance for not knowing how to embed the IG video)

But the best part has been setting up my new Carpe Diem (CD for short) planner.  My addiction dealer of choice for this platinum beauty was Michelle McCosh with Everything Scrapbook in Lake Worth.  As soon as I pulled out this CD out of the box,  I just knew that her name would be Marylinn.  Yup, just like the platinum bombshell of the 50s.

Immediately, Marylinn and I set out to give her personality.  Now some would expect 50s glam with a name like Marylinn but her and I knew that she would be total geek chic and that Groot would be a worthy companion for her.  Her first accessory was a DIY dashboard that perfectly slipped into the back notepad slot.  Much more useful for me than the standard notepad it comes with.

Marylinn immediately became BFFs with my traveler's notebook called Ginger and with my Websters pouch.  They love to go on road trips with me and each other.  Together, we will rule the world!

But Marylinn and I have been more than busy giving her "personality".  I've made clips, dividers, bookmarks and form inserts that fit her and only her.  And all with a touch of geek chic!

(This was me and Groot at Megacon in Orlando earlier this year!)

I was so proud of her look that I made a video.  Make sure to check out Marylinn's setup video on my YouTube channel.

So as you can clearly see, I have been a busy Planner DWEEB just having fun and getting creative with my planner companions.  So from me, Marylinn and Ginger ... thanks for sharing this adventure with us!

So from me to you!  Happy Planner DWEEB days.
Sending you love, Tabby
